Designed to help your create your own DVDs and Blu-ray discs with your best video files and recordings, AVS Video ReMaker offers you a timeline-based workspace where you can load your videos, improve them, cut and trim them, and even add transitions between them to produce a pro-looking video disc.

This video editing and disc burning tool supports all the most common video file formats, including HD and 4K video codecs, such as AVI, MP4, MPEG, WMV, and MKV, as long as you don’t mix them up in your timeline. The precondition for the program to let you work with various files simultaneously is that they all have the same frame size and the same frame rate, even if they share the same format. This limitation is probably a consequence of its lossless policy – though you can save your final work in a format other than the original, AVS Video ReMaker won’t re-encode none of your video files while in the editing phase to preserve the original video quality. This is great if you’re putting together on the same disc various videos from the same camera recorded using the same settings, but otherwise you may find it a bit of a nuisance really.

Once you’ve managed to load your videos to the program’s timeline, you’re offered various editing functions to help you make the final disc look less home-made and more professional. Long video files can be chaptered either manual or automatically following a time interval of your choice. If you’re working with various files simultaneously, you can add transitions between them to smooth the change of video file, multi-trim any of your files easily to leave out unwanted fragments, and add a menu to the output DVD or Blu-ray disc.

The program comes with a couple of excellent add-ons that are worth mentioning – a full-fledged screen capturing tool, and a webcam recording functionality. They’re actually two different AVS tools that the program will download and install for you the first time you use them –AVS Screen Capture and AVS Video Recorder, respectively.

AVS Video ReMaker is a nice and lovable product. If only the program were a bit more flexible when it comes to mixing video formats and frame rates, it would certainly be an excellent choice for amateur video lovers in search of an easy-to-use and effective video editing and authoring tool. That strict limitation, however, may seriously narrow the scope of potential users.
